About Us

Minimalist random travel.

In 2013, I made a program to give me a random place in Japan to visit. I used it when I was in Japan. Which was a lot.

I liked using the program as much as I hated my job. So I made a web app to use it on my phone while traveling.

I instantly went broke.

More recently, I watched Zatsu Tabi. That's when I realized that there was probably a market for this that could fix my bank account. So I digitized my travel logs and made this site. The target demographic is expats and heavy repeat visitors to Japan who want to see something different. I assume that people who use this site are experienced travelers who travel for the sake of travel and don't need long explanations, detailed descriptions, text that stirs the imagination, or even photos. They just want a place to go and a starting point for what to do.

But I'll probably try to add photos. I should visit all the places again anyway to update the information on specialities and attractions. I'll see about adding hotel and restaurant recommendations too. Maybe I should turn this into a travel blog while I do that?

If you have any suggestions for places or features or want to submit photos so I don't need to take them myself, let me know at japanhasfourseasons@gmail.com.

Help feed my addiction with donations. And join me in stanning Zatsu Tabi. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

By the way, the name of this site comes from a friend's experience with a Japanese teacher who told him, with utmost profundity, "Japan has four seasons." Thank you, friend. I'm stealing the phrase.
